Nanda Bahadur Pun elected as a new Vice President with 325 votes. Voting for the post of the new Vice-president has just concluded at the Legislature-Parliament. A total of 547 members of parliament took part in the vote. There are a total of 597 members at present. The parties based in the Madhesh boycotted the vote that took place through secret ballot. The counting of votes has already begun, and the result is likely to be out by 5:00 pm, according to the parliament secretariat assistant spokesperson Sundarshan Kuinkel. Amiya Kumar Yadav from the Nepali Congress and Nanda Bahadur Pun from the UCPN (Maoist) are contesting for the post.
